« Return to Project Search

St. Johns County selected Ayres to provide engineering/design, bid documents, and permitting services for the Armstrong Park Trailhead, including a trail connector to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) SR 207 multi-use River to Sea Loop Trail. A welcome center, restroom facilities, parking lot, learning/education center, landscaping, and other amenities were designed.

The project was funded through a Federal Highway Administration grant administered through FDOT and the St. Johns County Local Agency Program (LAP). Project planning and development approval was required by the County Development Review Committee process along with the Engineering Division, Construction Services, and Parks and Recreation review and approval. Environmental wetlands/mitigation permitting approval was required from the St. Johns River Water Management District and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Septic tank/drain field permitting was required by the Florida Department of Health.

The design phase was completed in 2015. Construction was completed in January 2017.
