Countryway Boulevard Force Main Replacement

« Return to Project Search

Our team provided a complete design package for a proposed 16-inch force main on Countryway Boulevard in Hillsborough County. We provided the design and permitting for 5,200 linear feet of 16-inch force main via horizontal directional drill (HDD), subsurface utility engineering (SUE), geotechnical investigation, and topographic and boundary survey. Permitting services included Environmental Resource Permitting (ERP) for pipeline installation within wetlands, including Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) permits; CSX permitting for a jack and bore under the railroad right-of-way; Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) right-of-way use permitting; and Hillsborough County Environmental Protection Commission (EPC) permitting for construction of a sanitary sewer.

A unique aspect of the project was sustaining and manifolding the existing 10-inch force main with the proposed 16-inch force main to provide additional capacity to the system. In addition to adding capacity, the two systems were designed to function independently or concurrently. This design allows for maintenance or repair of one system while the other supports sewer conveyance. The complex regulatory permitting considerations of wetland and CSX crossings were prepared without any comments from the agencies. The Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD), USACE, and FDEP permits were acquired within three weeks of application submittal.
