Westside Elementary School Addition & Remodel

« Return to Project Search

The demolition of 40-year-old modular classrooms gave way to a 2,700-square-foot addition housing a music classroom and district Reading Center at Westside Elementary School. Another 5,700 square feet of space involved an infill between the classroom wing and the gymnasium. This addition provided a large multipurpose room to be used as a cafeteria and makers’ space during school hours, as a Kids Club area before and after school, and as a community room for evening activities.

Interior renovations included replacement of the hallway flooring throughout the school, remodeling in the kitchen to expand food preparation areas, remodeling the former music room into a new occupational therapy/physical therapy classroom and Kids Club storage, and providing new restrooms near the gym and cafeteria.

Exterior improvements included returning some asphalt back into green space and re-grading the playground areas to improve drainage.
