Lutsen Mountains Eagle Ridge Resort Renovation

« Return to Project Search

Ayres provided architectural and interior design services for the renovation of five lodge-style buildings at Lutsen Mountains Ski Area in Lutsen, Minnesota, a popular year-round destination overlooking Lake Superior.

The project, which was part of a strategic, long-range plan to refresh the resort so that it meets the diverse needs and expectations of guests, encompassed a variety of nine condominium configurations. The team modernized the layouts by introducing upgraded amenities including new kitchens, steam showers, and built-in Murphy beds. These updates transformed the resort’s vibe, turning the ambience from tired and rustic into contemporary and comfortable.

The design team worked closely with the staff to develop a set of material standards to help reduce daily turnover maintenance while withstanding the wear and tear of equipment, luggage, and snow gear. Ayres sourced and provided preliminary estimation of the furniture, fixtures, and equipment selections throughout all the renovations. Specifications included commercial furniture, bedding, decorative lighting, window privacy, and engaging a photographer familiar with the region to provide original works of art for the units.
