Medford Bandshell
« Return to Project SearchThis project involved designing a new open-air covered stage along the west side of Centennial Parkway and overlooking the Black River in Medford, Wisconsin. The structure consists of glued-laminated timber beams and columns on shallow spread footing foundations. The sloped roof consists of exposed tongue-and-groove wood decking with metal roofing. The stage floor is concrete with curved front stairs and rear handicap ramp access. Electrical facilities consist of overhead house lighting, nighttime security lighting, and electrical receptacles for lighting and sound in a rear-mounted panel. Sliding wooden barn doors were custom fabricated to provide the options of a backdrop for performances or an open view of the adjacent river.
Ayres provided architectural and structural design, electrical design, site civil design, bidding services, construction staking, and construction observation services.
