Waushara CTH "E" over Pine River Bridge Replacement

« Return to Project Search

Waushara County hired Ayres to design the replacement of the CTH “E” bridge over the Pine River in the Town of Leon. Services included survey; hydraulic sizing; roadway design; bridge design; and final plans, specifications, and estimates. Two alternative structure types were developed during the preliminary engineering phase for selection of the design that would best balance practical construction considerations, right-of-way requirements, aesthetics, cost, and blending with the surrounding topography.

The existing bridge was immediately downstream from a dam and adjacent to the intersection with Water Street. Several nearby residences and buildings also needed to be considered during design and construction.

The new structure is a single-span prestressed concrete girder bridge on semi-expansion vertical pile-encased (A5) abutments. The overall bridge length is 54 feet, 8 inches. The bridge clear width is 38 feet, with an overall bridge width of 40 feet. The overall project length is 325 feet and includes the reconstruction of the intersection with Water Street just north of the structure.

Construction was completed in 2013.
