The City of Hayward selected Ayres to provide engineering services associated with its Community Development Block Grant-funded 2016 street and utility improvement projects on 5th Street (Johnson Street to Wisconsin Avenue), Michigan Avenue (5th Street to North End), 2nd Street (Vermont Avenue to Florida Avenue), Vermont Avenue (USH 63 to 5th Street), and Greenwood Lane (from the bus garage to County Hill).
Ayres assisted the City in winning the CDBG for Public Facilities grant, which provided $497,010 in funding.
The 5th Street and Michigan Avenue projects involved total reconstruction, including water main, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and roadway. The 2nd Street project comprised sanitary sewer and roadway work. The Vermont Avenue and Greenwood Lane segments involved only pulverizing and repaving the roadway.
Services included topographic design survey, cost estimates, grant administration, preliminary and final design documents, bidding services, and construction observation.
