Pacific Northwest Floating Bulkhead
Ayres provided engineering design, plans and specifications, and shop drawing review for a floating bulkhead that Steel-Fab used to fabricate a floating bulkhead for a Pacific Northwest dam. Ayres also prepared an installation and maintenance manual that is used during installation.
Brokopond Floating Bulkead
The Afobaka Dam was completed in 1964 as part of the Brokopondo hydroelectric plant. The dam generates 180 megawatts, providing power to about 70% of the small country of Suriname. Leesville Floating Bulkhead
Appalachian Power is required to complete a fully open gate test on all four of its spillway gates. A fully open gate causes downstream flooding, and a bulkhead was needed to test the gates without causing downstream flooding.
