The Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Southwest Region, selected Ayres to provide construction services for the USH 14 reconstruction project between CTH KP and Westview Court in Cross Plains. The 1.13-mile urban project in Dane County involved a full reconstruction of the roadway, Construction of deep sanitary sewer required dewatering. The project also included new water main, storm sewer, grading, concrete curb and gutter, new sidewalks, street lighting, asphaltic pavement, and concrete pavement in the downtown area. Part of the roadway was closed to traffic during construction, and part was rebuilt under staging. As a Class 1 trout stream, nearby Black Earth Creek is environmentally sensitive. The project was completed in 2015 at a total cost of $10.4 million.
