Kevin joined Ayres Associates' transportation engineering staff in 2014 as a project manager and roundabout designer, bringing over 19 years of transportation design and project management experience. Kevin has focused entirely on roundabouts for the past eight years, including operational analysis, feasibility studies, design, review, construction observation assistance, and training.
Kevin is a leading roundabout designer in the United States. He has been involved with developing hundreds of roundabouts throughout North America, ranging from single-lane to complex three-lane roundabouts. He is qualified as a Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Level 3 roundabout designer, the state's highest level.
He worked with WisDOT to develop the state's most recent roundabout design guidelines update. Kevin was a co-instructor for WisDOT's roundabout training workshops in 2006, 2009, and 2013; has been co-instructor for Georgia DOT roundabout training workshops; and presented at the Institute of Transportation Engineers' 2009 and 2013 Midwestern District conferences and the 2011 Transportation Research Board International Roundabout Conference.
Kevin's areas of expertise include:
- Developing VISSIM micro-simulation models for operational results and for public information meetings
- Educating the public about roundabouts
- Gaining agency, community, and public acceptance for roundabouts
