Joe Heinowski, AIA, EDAC, has joined Ayres’ Architecture Division, bringing experience on dozens of projects in the healthcare sector over nearly three decades in the industry. Heinowski is a Wisconsin registered architect based in our Waukesha office.

Heinowski’s background in healthcare programming, planning, project management, and documentation has benefited nonprofit, for-profit, and government clients seeking the design of physical environments that support health and healing.

A collaborative philosophy helps Heinowski incorporate the insights and needs of hospital leadership, care staff, and patients into hospitals and clinics. His designs prioritize operational efficiency, which enhances care. He integrates sustainable design practices and wellness concepts into projects while also navigating the complex web of industry standards and state and local requirements. His in-depth knowledge includes guidance relating to the Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

“The Architecture Division is so excited about Joe’s passion and unwavering focus on the healthcare market sector,” says David Delfosse, vice president. “Ayres has assisted over 100 healthcare clients with projects over the years, and I anticipate Joe will magnify the level of service we provide to these institutions that are so critical to our communities in the Midwest.”

Heinowski holds Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Architecture degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee as well as Evidence-based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC) from the Center for Health Design.
