Verona Old CTH PB Bridge over Branch Badger Mill Creek

« Return to Project Search

The City of Verona retained Ayres to design a cost-effective replacement for the Old CTH PB bridge over the Branch of Badger Mill Creek. This project was designed in conjunction with another nearby bridge along Old CTH PB that is within the Town of Verona’s jurisdiction. The design alternatives included either replacing with a new single-span bridge or using a design involving culverts. The recommended alternative consisted of twin 58-inch by 91-inch horizontal elliptical concrete culvert pipes.

The culvert pipes were selected to address the low existing hydraulic clearance and required raising the grade of Old CTH PB almost 3 feet just north of the branch of the creek. The culverts were designed long enough to provide room for a possible future multi-use path along the west side of the roadway.

The construction schedule was established to allow both of these projects to be completed by the first week of September since Old CTH PB falls along the route of the Ironman Triathlon held each year at that time.

Services included field survey, environmental documentation, reports, public involvement, and roadway and structure plans.
