East Pershing Corridor and Roundabout Design« Return to Project Search
The City of Cheyenne, Wyoming, retained Ayres to provide roadway and utility design and construction engineering for reconstruction of a portion of East Pershing Boulevard, including reconstruction of one intersection as a five-leg, multi-lane roundabout.
The project included extensive public outreach, right-of-way survey, a plan for phased construction to minimize traffic disruption, design of modular-block and cast-in-place concrete retaining walls in front of homes, and the design of cantilevered sign structures directing traffic to the correct lanes at the roundabout. Utility design included replacing 6-inch and 12-inch parallel water mains with one main and replacing associated valves, hydrants, sanitary sewer manholes, and 490 feet of sanitary sewer. Two manholes were added, and an additional 485 feet of sanitary sewer were replaced or relined.
