Sheboygan Safe Routes to School Traffic Calming and Safety Measures

« Return to Project Search

Our team designed pedestrian safety improvements and traffic calming measures for 12 schools, the YMCA, and the surrounding neighborhoods in a project completed for the City of Sheboygan and Sheboygan County. Design elements included intersection bumpouts, raised pedestrian crossings, traffic circles, flashing speed monitors, and traffic islands.

We worked closely with elected officials, Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) representatives, and local advocacy groups to attain the safest and most efficient design solutions. The project was funded by a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) grant, and all phases followed the Sponsors Guide to Non-Traditional Transportation Project Implementation requirements. Services included public involvement and construction phase services.
