Hayes Promoted to Lead Ayres’ SUE Team

Kasey Hayes has been promoted to supervisor of Ayres’ subsurface utility engineering (SUE) discipline in the Western division, a newly established role that reflects both the team’s development and his leadership in the field.
Working primarily in northern Colorado, Hayes brings 18 years of experience in underground utility designating, supporting damage prevention and on-call services across a wide range of utility systems, including gas, oil, telecommunications, electric, sanitary, and water. He has extensive experience using advanced locating technologies to deliver accurate field investigations that support safe and efficient infrastructure design and construction.
Hayes has played a key role in the expansion of Ayres’ SUE capabilities, helping grow the team from a two-person field operation into a larger, more integrated group supporting both internal and external clients. In his new role, he will oversee field operations, coordinate closely with office staff, and serve as a technical resource to maintain high-quality standards across projects.
“Kasey has been a leader on both the technical and people side for years,” said Dale Mathison, manager of the SUE & Survey group. “He’s widely recognized as an expert in utility investigation, and his approachable style and genuine passion for the work make him a natural fit to lead this team.”
Hayes’ responsibilities include guiding field crews, supporting quality control efforts in the field and office, reviewing project deliverables, and contributing to project planning and proposals. His hybrid experience working in both field and office environments enables him to connect day-to-day field activities with overall project goals, helping teams deliver consistent and reliable results.
In addition to his project work, Hayes supports industry and company initiatives, including serving as secretary of the Weld County Damage Prevention Council and participating in Ayres’ internal safety committee. He has also helped deliver educational outreach presentations to partners seeking to better understand SUE practices.
Hayes is a traffic control supervisor and is both OSHA 10- and BNSF-certified.
