Ayres determined required spillway capacity for the Spooner Dam, evaluated options for a new spillway, and prepared plans and specifications for the project. The dam is operated and maintained by Washburn County, and the project was funded in part by property owners on Spooner Lake.
Our project team presented its design to lake residents at a town hall meeting. Residents frequently argued with the County about the appropriate lake elevation. Ultimately the new structure provides the County with a much more operable system, minimizes lake level concerns among residents, and reduces needed dam operations efforts among County staff.
Project tasks included submittals to regulatory agencies for review and approval, project bidding, and construction phase services.
