Tim Johnson has joined Ayres as a business development specialist in the St. Paul, Minnesota, office. There he will identify opportunities as our Engineering Services Group – based in St. Paul and Eau Claire, Wisconsin – brings its diverse site development and municipal engineering services to private and public sector clients in Minnesota.

Johnson has over 15 years of multi-disciplinary business development experience in the professional services arena, partnering with clients seeking architectural, civil, survey, landscape architecture, environmental, and planning services. Johnson works well with planners, city engineers, and commissions and councils to obtain land use and development approvals. He is genuine in his relationship-building and effective in his communications with federal, municipal, commercial, and utility clients. Johnson understands well the municipal development and approval process, as he spent nearly a decade as a city planner and planning consultant. 

In addition to developing direct relationships with new and existing clients, Johnson will work with project managers to hone their client relationship skills and business development methods. Johnson will monitor and evaluate industry trends, marketplace conditions, client needs, and potential growth markets, and he will incorporate this information into corporate strategy. Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in metro-urban studies with a planning focus from Augsburg College.  He is active in the Economic Development Association of Minnesota and is also a member of the Sensible Land Use Coalition and the Minnesota chapters of the Association of Public Works and the American Planning Association, all based in Minneapolis-St. Paul.
