Nienow Chosen as President-elect of Wisconsin Land Information Association

Zachary Nienow Staff PortraitZachary Nienow, GISP, senior project manager in Ayres’ aerial mapping group, was elected to the post of president-elect of the Wisconsin Land Information Association. An announcement was made today at WLIA’s annual conference.

After he serves as president-elect in the year ahead, Nienow will be WLIA president in 2022, past president in 2023, and then chairman of the WLIA Foundation in 2024.

“The future is bright for WLIA,” Nienow says. “Our membership numbers are strong, we have financial stability, and, most importantly, we have a great mix of members who are passionate about Wisconsin land information issues. I look forward to serving as president-elect and finding ways to work together to advance GIS and land information in this state.”

Nienow has been a member of WLIA since 2012 and recently completed his second two-year term on the WLIA Board of Directors.

With nearly 17 years of experience in geospatial sciences, Nienow designs and leads lidar, orthoimagery, and digital mapping projects from flight to delivery. He serves a diverse range of clients in the private and public sectors, including many counties and municipalities in Wisconsin.

As program manager for the Wisconsin Regional Orthoimagery Consortium (WROC), Nienow has helped lead many aspects of the statewide mapping procurement program for members and partners through the years.

Nienow is a certified geographic information system professional. He earned a bachelor’s degree in 2004 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with an emphasis on GIS/cartography and physical geography.
