Paige Bernhardt has been elected to the board of directors of the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. Bernhardt is a landscape designer within Ayres’ Development Services Division. As part of our landscape architecture group, she assists on projects in the Midwest, West, and Southeast in collaboration with our economic development specialists and urban planners. She is based in Eau Claire.

In addition to being a member-at-large of the board, Bernhardt will also serve as a chair of the Engagement Committee, which focuses on engaging with current members and attracting new or lapsed members, and she is on the Planning Committee that organizes events for chapter membership.

WI ASLA represents more than 175 professionals, allied professionals, and students in the landscape architecture profession. As a member of the board, Bernhardt represents the concerns of the membership, assists with recruitment, and attends monthly board meetings. ASLA’s mission is to lead, educate, and participate in the careful stewardship, wise planning, and artful design of our cultural and natural environments.

Bernhardt has been an active member of the chapter, helping to complete a new website that she continues to maintain to communicate with members and others who may be interested in learning about WI ASLA and landscape architecture.

“I am eager to take on new responsibilities with the chapter and be a voice for young professionals throughout the state,” Bernhardt says. “I look forward to advancing my professional leadership skills through my time on the board. I am thankful to continue to learn from other professionals on the Executive Committee as we work to advocate for the profession of landscape architecture and provide great benefits to our membership.”

Bernhardt’s passions include parks and open spaces and designing for waterfronts, urban settings, and ecological preservation. As a landscape designer, she enjoys engaging with the community, meaningful place making, and designing with people and wildlife in mind. Her hobbies constitute a long list, and every one of them involves the outdoors.

Bernhardt applies her strong work ethic and communication skills on team landscape design efforts, including completing graphics from concept to construction. She is particularly knowledgeable about community engagement and uses a broad range of graphic programs from AutoCAD to Sketchup and the Adobe Creative Cloud.

Bernhardt holds a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture and additional majors in geography and environmental studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
