The Gantry
The Gantry, Beloit, WI
In 2011, Ayres prepared a redesign of State Street in downtown Beloit. The design included a small plaza near the intersection of Grand Avenue and State Street that was envisioned to be used for small performances, noon lunches, and evening concerts.
The final design included an art deco-inspired steel gantry structure, harkening back to Beloit’s industrial heritage. The gantry formed a gateway piece for a significant downtown intersection and included programmable LED lighting accents. The plaza featured a raised stage and seating area.
