Blackwolf Run Golf Course River Run Bridge Inspection
« Return to Project SearchKohler Company hired Ayres to inspect the River Run Bridge on the Blackwolf Run Golf Course in Kohler after identifying areas of the bridge that are of concern.
The River Run Bridge carries pedestrian and golf cart traffic over the Sheboygan River west of the golf course’s clubhouse.
The bridge is a 289-foot-long, three-span steel thru girder bridge supported on concrete sill-type abutments and timber pile bent piers. The bridge, constructed in 1985, has a concrete deck that has been overlaid with asphalt and has a clear path width of 13 feet. The pier pilings have been damaged at times by floating ice.
Access to the bridge was gained by foot on the bridge deck, slopes on each bank, and by wading through the Sheboygan River. The shallow river depth meant that a boat was not required.
Ayres also performed a load rating for the structure and performed a study to determine maintenance recommendations.
