The Eau Claire School District retained Ayres to design additions to an existing 250,000-square-foot high school. The additions totaled approximately 60,000 square feet; renovations were also made to approximately 100,000 square feet of existing building areas. Expanded parking areas and athletic fields also were included.
The additions provided needed space for technical education and general classrooms, administrative offices, a pool spectator area and weight room, and new exit stairs and mechanical equipment spaces. Major remodeled areas included expanded physical education/athletic locker rooms, art rooms, science labs, and cafeteria/kitchen. Work included new HVAC, plumbing, electrical, communications and alarm systems, and replacement of nearly 400 inefficient windows. Remodeling and additions to the physical education and athletic team facilities roughly tripled the size of the existing locker/shower areas.
