« Return to Project Search

The Village of DeForest and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation selected Ayres Associates? to design a bridge replacement along South Street over the Yahara River. The project included removing the deteriorated single-span two-lane bridge and replacing it with a single-span, two-lane structure, including sidewalk, lighting, and decorative railing along one side of the bridge.

Aesthetic treatments include decorative railing and concrete form liners. Two retaining walls were designed for the project, including a 6-foot-tall cast-in-place retaining wall and a 3-foot-high boulder/rock wall.

The project also included replacing approximately 400 feet of approach roadway, including concrete curb and gutter, paved sidewalk, and storm sewer.

Ayres Associates’ services included field survey, agency coordination, right-of-way plat, public involvement, and preliminary and final plan preparation. Ayres Associates was subsequently retained by the Village of DeForest to acquire the necessary right-of-way for this project.
