UW-River Falls Falcon Center Concept Design

« Return to Project Search

Ayres Associates provided the concept design for a 164,425-square-foot addition to the UW-River Falls Hunt Arena and Knowles Physical Education and Recreation Center, a project that will result in substantial improvements to the University’s athletic facilities. The addition will provide a complex for varsity athletics, student recreation and fitness, and the UW-River Falls Health and Human Performance academic program.

Athletic spaces will include a new 2,500-seat basketball arena, a 12,000-square-foot auxiliary gymnasium, 15 new team locker rooms, and enlargements to the existing hockey arena and training center.

The project was designed to sustainability standards equivalent to LEED Silver.

Architectural planning and construction documents were prepared using Building Information Modeling (BIM) 3-D modeling.

Athletic field improvements will include an artificial turf football field, an irrigated varsity soccer field with seating for 400 spectators, varsity track field event facilities, and a varsity softball field with seating for 400.

The site will receive 750 paved parking spaces. A secondary access road will be constructed so traffic can exit after major events with minimal disruption to street traffic. A traffic study, pedestrian circulation evaluation, landscaping, and stormwater collection and treatment design were provided.
