RCU Moholt Drive Office Building

« Return to Project Search

The demand for services at the 900-square-foot Royal Credit Union (RCU) branch office on Moholt Drive in Eau Claire had outgrown the building. Ayres Associates was retained to provide architectural design and civil engineering services for a new 9,000-square-foot wood frame building.

The main level holds credit union member services, including tellers, loan officers, and a safety deposit vault. Teller towers, a new method for serving members, are used at the Moholt facility. The towers are intended to provide a more interactive approach to transactions, allowing the member and the teller to work side-by-side, rather than across the counter. The flooring in the area is a pedestal system that will simplify upgrades in electrical and data systems. The lower level contains employee areas, such as the break room, training room, and quiet room. The lower level also has a walk-out patio for employees to enjoy the outdoors during breaks or for a branch office cookout.

The building design incorporates sustainable design elements, including geothermal heat pumps, daylighting, and the use of recycled materials. The design concept brings a bright, open, and airy feel to the building.

The former building was salvaged and relocated to Chippewa Valley Technical College, where it is part of the college’s emergency services training facilities.
