Loveland Wastewater Modeling

« Return to Project Search

Since 2007 Ayres has been providing the City of Loveland, Colorado, with hydraulic modeling of its wastewater collection system to establish the system’s capacity, support the analysis of proposed development, and improve operational and maintenance decision-making. The goal is to optimize the construction of new or replacement projects to minimize cost and risk.

Ayres initially provided an extensive hydraulic model of the wastewater collection system based on basin-by-basin water meter data, calibrated the model against measured flows, and provided the City with a decision-making tool for system management. Our team collected samples from customer water use and measured sewer flows at 101 manhole locations throughout the City.

Ayres also trained City staff on the use of the model to evaluate future development, capital expansion projects, and rehabilitation projects. Flow monitoring efforts included capturing lift station peak discharge rates and customer patterns for established commercial areas, schools, and high-density residential trailer park areas.

Under subsequent contracts, Ayres has focused on particular infrastructure, including an extensive condition survey of the Namaqua Interceptor, an older pipeline with extensive corrosion due to hydrogen sulfide, and hydraulic model development and flow monitoring for major interceptors from the Fairgrounds Park area to the wastewater treatment plant.
