Qualified candidates will have at least 5 years of roadway/bridge construction experience, additional experience beneficial.  Minimum of an Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent required.  WisDOT concrete certification preferred.  Experience with CaiCE, GeoPak, MicroStation, and InRoads; WisDOT project development process; traffic counts; construction observation and materials testing for DOT projects beneficial.  Strong written/verbal communication skills and the ability to deal with construction contractors and operate independently required.  This position is expected to last six months, but may be extended based on workload. 


Duties will include field layout of projects, quantity measurements and computations, record keeping, contractor pay estimate preparation and review of contractor progress; processing of change orders materials; materials testing; field staking and general inspection under the supervision of the Resident Engineer.  Interprets construction drawings and specifications and takes appropriate actions to ensure project is constructed in conformance with the requirements of the project construction contract.  Maintains client relations while in the field.  May assist with design engineering duties under the supervision of the Project Manager.  Responsibilities may include preparing reports, plans, and specifications, researching design standards and code requirements, and conducting field investigation of design problems.
