Traffic Engineer Project Manager – #1423

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Primary experience in transportation/traffic engineering and intelligent transportation systems (ITS)
  • Registered Professional Engineer, must obtain professional registration in applicable state location within six months of hire
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification preferred
  • 7 – 15 years of relevant experience, along with at least four years of project management experience
  • A high level of technical experience required in the following areas: roundabouts; context sensitive solutions (CSS); corridor studies; capacity analysis; traffic impact analysis and knowledge of FHWA, state, and local standards
  • A high level of technical experience desired in the following area: ITS; pedestrian, bicycle and compete streets; parking studies or traffic signals
  • A high level of prior experience and skill in the areas of report writing and public involvement are desired
  • Good standing with state DOT staff
  • Municipal urban experience is preferred
  • Experience in successfully marketing and winning projects from a wide mix of clients including state DOT’s, municipalities, and private clients
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record required

 

Responsibilities:

The purpose of this position is to further develop the traffic engineering service area at one of the locales listed above, and firm wide. Currently, Ayres Associates’ traffic engineers are primarily located in Wisconsin and the company goal is to develop traffic engineering services in new geographic locations throughout the United States. The primary responsibility of this position will be to develop a client base and workload, within their geographic area, to expand traffic engineering services and, as new staff are added, to advance their career development. Ayres Associates promotes work sharing between offices to fulfill the workload needs of all staff. Qualified candidates are expected to be able to generate new workload to support and assist in expanding staffing levels. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing or reviewing technical documents for submittal to clients as well as presenting engineering analyses and recommendations to clients and the public. Prepares contracts, invoices and other project management related items.
