Lead Bridge Inspector #1724


Qualified FDOT approved NBIS inspection team leader (FL CBI or FL PE) required. Technical writing skills for preparation of inspection reports and an understanding of inspection codes and standards required.  Qualified candidate will have experience inspecting structures such as bridges, culverts, dams and ancillary structures.  Experience with both underwater and climbing inspections a plus.  Willingness to work around traffic at heights and around water is required.  Position will be approximately 65% in the field and 35% in the office.  Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.  Ability to travel within Florida and throughout the country, sometimes for as long as two weeks at a time, will be required.



Applies sound practices and principles in bridge, culvert and ancillary inspections. Participates in the inspection program, performing field inspections, BrM/BMS (AASHTO Element) coding, QA/QC reviews and report documentation.  Compiles information needed for comments and response from client.  Consults with project manager and project engineers concerning deficiencies on the structure for appropriate action.  Coordinates inspection details directly with project managers, technicians, and clerical staff during preliminary and final report preparation in order to ensure quality and conformance standards.

Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb, swim, and negotiate work areas fully equipped with appropriate gear (surface supplied air diving equipment, rope access climbing equipment, etc.). Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at a construction work site or similar type environment.
