The Geospatial Division of Ayres Associates is seeking candidates for a new Project Surveyor/Technical Lead position at our Tampa (Benjamin Center), FL office. The Land Survey group within the Geospatial Division at Ayres desires to add this full-time Surveyor position to support the team with diverse technical ability as the company prepares for continued growth in Florida. The successful candidate will have an active role in performing diverse geospatial services while also providing technical oversight to staff as needed. The candidate will also be expected to recognize and pursue niche opportunities with a focus on emerging technologies.
Ayres Associates is an employee-owned multi-specialty architectural/engineering and geospatial service firm providing services from a network of 12 offices in five states. Land survey services are provided by an interconnected team of crew chiefs, technicians, professional surveyors, and project managers who are managed as a single group across numerous offices, bringing consistency and flexible resources to our employees and clients.
Candidates must have five years of relevant work experience and be strong technically in the use of modern survey equipment and software. Strong written and oral communication and organizational skills will be essential, as the successful applicant will frequently interact with staff, project managers, and clients. Candidates should anticipate occasional travel; a valid driver’s license and good driving record are required.
Other desirable experiences or skills include:
- Hold or currently pursuing a Florida Professional Survey and Mapper license.
- Hold other neighboring state survey licenses.
- Experience with Trimble survey equipment and software.
- Experience with Civil3D/AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret construction drawings.
- Previous project management skills or interest in developing these skills.
The Project Surveyor will report directly to the Geospatial Project Manager in Tampa and will independently complete field and office survey tasks assigned. The Project Surveyor will also provide technical expertise to other staff in support of their assignments. It will be required of this candidate to implement the Land Survey group’s standards while also leaning on their own experiences developing a consistent and efficient process within the office. The Project Surveyor will interact with staff from other professional disciplines at Ayres Associates and will frequently meet with clients. Physical requirements include walking over uneven terrain and lifting up to 50 pounds. Overtime should be expected. The candidate will adhere to OSHA and required safety practices.
