Remember Deadline for Water, Wastewater Programs (December 2009)
December 31 is more than the last day of 2009 – it’s also the last day to submit an Intent to Apply (ITA) and a Priority Evaluation and Ranking Form (PERF) to be considered for funding through Wisconsin’s Safe Drinking Water Loan Program and Clean Water Fund for state fiscal year 2011.

These programs, run through the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, provide low-interest loans to communities for modifications to their public water and wastewater systems. Water system projects might include new water towers, new wells, treatment systems at wells, water system looping, or water system capacity improvements. Wastewater projects might include treatment plant upgrades, capacity improvements, or collection system capacity improvements. The key is to demonstrate that there is a deficiency in a community’s existing systems.

The 2009 programs provided principal forgiveness (grants) to communities, thanks to supplemental funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). It is not known at this time if similar grant funds will be available in 2010.

The ITA and PERF must be postmarked, faxed, shipped, or emailed to the Department by December 31. Hand-delivered forms need to be delivered and date-stamped by 4:30 p.m. on December 30, as the Department will not be open on December 31.

If you have questions about the programs or the forms, please contact your Ayres Associates project manager for assistance. Details are also available online at http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/caer/cfa/EL/Section/Newsletters/September4.pdf.
