Vision Statement
Downtown Eau Claire is undergoing a renaissance. The success of Phoenix Park, the influx of residential spaces, the growing arts events, the new business ventures — all these happenings and more contribute to the improving quality of work and activity in the downtown.
The Downtown Riverfront District is the heart of Eau Claire and the traditional business center of the community. Bordered on two sides by rivers, this district is home to arts and entertainment, specialty businesses and financial institutions, a civic center, and government facilities. These varied uses draw a daily mix of residents and visitors.
The City of Eau Claire is embarking on a project involving a downtown traffic circulation analysis, transportation planning, and preparation of conceptual designs for the reconstruction of S. Barsotw Street, from Lake Street to the Eau Claire River, and Eau Claire Street, from Graham Avenue to Dewey Street. The project also included development of preliminary plans for public improvements to the east bank of the Chippew River, from Lake Street to the Haymarket Parking Lot.
Project Goal
Develop a plan for the reconstruction of streets and the riverbank that provides for use by all modes of transportation, creates an incentive for development, and enhances the quality of life for businesses, organizations, and individuals who work, live, and visit the historic riverfront district.
